Football season is in the air! In my sports medicine practice, September is always a very busy month for this very reason and injury rates usually peak as “two-a-days” end and games begin. Knees are always at risk. The sudden, violent impacts of football can produce ACL or meniscus tears, and side-to-side fast cutting maneuvers can tear these structures without any impact at all. As for women’s sports, Fall soccer season is also a very high injury-prone sport, from ankle sprains to ACL tears (soccer is the #1 cause of ACL tears in young women).
Consider protecting your knees with our line of sports braces, ranging from the DonJoy Legend for the casual athlete, to the DonJoy eXtreme Action Armor for the serious athlete, to the DonJoy Fource Point or Ossur CTi OTS Pro Sport knee braces for those who are most aggressive in their sports. The Fource Point has a special new hinge that provides resistance to extension, and particularly protects knees of people who generate high-impact stresses to their joints.
Don’t forget our rehabilitation kits to not only help you recover from an injury, but to actually help with injury prevention. By strengthening the muscles that support your joints, you can help your body help itself. Cryotherapy is also a great way to help recover from a hard day of training and reduce the inflammation often caused by injury.
