Knee Problem: Infection
Warning!!!! If for any reason you feel you have an infection at, in or around your knee, seek immediate medical treatment. Do not wait!!!
Infection can happen in the skin (cellulitis), bursa (bursitis), knee joint (septic arthritis), or the bones (osteomyelitis) of your joint. The symptoms are usually pain, redness, and swelling of the knee or it's surrounding tissue.
You do not need to have a temperature to have an infection, although it is a common symptom. In addition, some people have a feeling that they are sick and have a "run-down" feeling. Typically, it is very painful to move the joint. However, infection can occur at anytime and anywhere. If you have any concern that you have an infection, seek medical treatment immediately.
